Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know to run your first music quiz on Discord.
How do I play a music quiz on Discord with BlindBlue?
Invite the bot to your server, join a voice channel, then type /game in a text channel: a lobby opens where you choose the theme. Start the game with the lobby button: the bot plays one clip per round, and the first player to type the right answer in the channel scores the points.
Is BlindBlue free?
Yes. Every command and every theme except VIP themes is free. The VIP option unlocks longer games, full control over the game settings (timer, difficulty, short answers...) and VIP themes; every server gets a 7-day free trial as soon as the bot is added.
How are points counted?
The first correct answer earns 2 points: the song title, or the name of the movie, series or game depending on the theme. On music themes, being first to find the artist earns 1 point and the round goes on until someone finds the title. On a near tie, Discord's send time decides, not your connection speed. Points are always credited, even if the game is interrupted (channel deleted, bot removed…).
Can we play in teams?
Yes: in the lobby, the game master turns on team mode. Everyone joins a colour with the buttons, or the Shuffle button splits the voice channel; players without a team are placed at launch. A team's score is the sum of its members' points, and the winning team is shown at the end of the game. Points stay individual in /rank and /stats. Two teams are free, up to five with the VIP option.
Which themes are available?
Movies, series, anime, video games, K-pop, 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s hits, animals, French cartoons, Disney songs in French, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and German, Arcane, Imagine Dragons and Queen (VIP): more than 3,000 songs. The full list, song by song, is on the statistics page. By default, /game starts the Mix theme: 20% each of anime, series, movies and video games, 10% Disney in the language of the server and 10% hits from the 80s to the 2010s. The Change theme button in the lobby picks another one.
Do I have to answer in a specific language?
No: a correct answer is accepted whatever the server's language (original title, translation or well-known alias), and small typos are tolerated.
How do I change the bot's language?
A server manager can pick it with /config. The bot speaks 10 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish.
The bot doesn't play any sound or join the voice channel: what can I do?
Run /config: it checks the bot's permissions (view the channel, connect, speak, send messages...) and tells you what is missing. Also make sure you are in a voice channel when you use /game. If it keeps happening, ask on the support server.
Who can start or stop a game?
The game master: everyone by default, unless a role is set with /config. The server owner and administrators always are. The Stop the game button ends the game in progress, and Force skip skips the song without waiting for the vote.
How do I suggest a song or a theme?
Log in with Discord on the Suggest page: you can submit a song or a theme and vote for other people's suggestions. The most supported ones are added first.
